About Darlene In a nutshell, FAT Cakes & Desserts exists thanks to Placerville native Darlene’s many devoted fans. Having learned the art of baking at an early age, Darlene has long been creating jaw-dropping and mouth-watering delicacies for friends and family alike. You could say that making people happy through baking is a family tradition, as both her mother and grandmother were fabulous bakers in their own right. In fact, Darlene’s grandmother owned a candy shop in San Francisco in the 1930s. (In addition to making specialty candies, her grandmother also created specialty cakes for family, friends, and local businesses.) Not surprisingly, demand for Darlene’s delightful desserts grew, and now her delicate, decadent and sumptuously imaginative creations can be enjoyed by the privileged many. Her cakes and desserts are featured attractions at local restaurants and wineries. |
